Western State College of Law congratulates alumnus and adjunct professor James A. Hayes, Jr. (Class of 1992) on being highlighted by the California Lawyers Association in the Business Law section. Jim has spent nearly three decades blending client representation with academic leadership, from co-founding Zinser | Hayes to serving as a U.S. Bankruptcy Court mediator and Judge Pro Tem at the Orange County Superior Court. His career includes significant roles such as Special Corporate Counsel to the Diocese of Orange, where he helped settle over 100 clergy abuse cases and oversaw a billion-dollar reorganization. A dedicated educator since 1994, Jim has taught corporate, commercial, and bankruptcy law at Western State, mentoring generations of students. His career reflects both the impact of Western State alumni in practice and the continued excellence of our adjunct faculty.
