Western State proudly congratulates Lubna Qazi-Chowdhry (Class of 2005) on her appointment as a New Jersey State Administrative Law Judge. Nominated by Governor Philip D. Murphy on January 6, 2026, Judge Qazi-Chowdhry was confirmed by the State Senate and sworn in by New Jersey Supreme Court Associate Justice Rachel Wainer Apter on January 22, 2026, before beginning her judicial service in Newark. A graduate of UC Irvine and Western State, Judge Qazi-Chowdhry credits her legal education and the mentorship of Professors Jenkins and Romney for inspiring her commitment to public service. Her career spans federal and state agencies, private practice, and judicial clerkship, with experience across administrative, civil rights, health, and matrimonial law. Multilingual and deeply committed to justice, Judge Qazi-Chowdhry’s path reflects the impact and reach of Western State alumni in public service nationwide.
