For Pride Month, we’re proud to once again shine the spotlight on Karlee Wilkinson and celebrate the impact she made during her time at Western State. Karlee helped revive OUTLaw as the former President, building it into an active and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ students and allies on campus. She later served as Student Bar Association President, continuing to support student organizations and help make Western State a place where students could feel seen, supported, and included.

Reflecting on what Pride means to her, Karlee shares, “To me, being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community is knowing that I am a part of something bigger than myself.” She sees Pride as a time to honor the people who fought for the right to live freely while continuing the work to protect those rights for the next generation.

Since graduating from Western State, Karlee has celebrated several achievements. After completing her post-bar clerkship with the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, she was sworn into the legal profession by Commissioner Joseph Dane (Class of 1995), her former trial practice professor and fellow Western State alumnus. She also passed the California Bar Exam on her first attempt, one of the most difficult hurdles every law student must cross. Recently, she joined Bremer, Whyte, Brown & O’Meara as an Associate Attorney. Outside of work, Karlee has been enjoying spending time with her girlfriend, Allie, her dog Frankie, and catching up on life after the bar exam.
