Meet the OUTLaw leaders for the 2026–2027 year at Western State! OUTLaw is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive community for LGBTQ+ students and allies within the legal field. Through advocacy, educational programming, networking opportunities, and community engagement, the organization encourages having conversations about equity, representation, and the evolving landscape of LGBTQ+ rights. Open to all students, OUTLaw creates a welcoming environment where members can connect, network, support one another, and grow both personally and professionally throughout their law school experience.

Juliet PoucherJuliet Poucher, 3L
President

Favorite Field(s) of Law:
Medical Malpractice/Mass Torts/Environmental Law.

Role Models:
RBG, Gloria Allred, & Amal Clooney.

Future Goals:
Aspiring Medical Malpractice/Personal Injury attorney.

Hobbies:
Writing, reading, traveling, fishing, and spending time with my dog Daisy.

Fun Fact:
I can learn an entire subject in three days.

Advice for new students:
Don’t compare your law school journey to anyone else’s – everyone’s experience looks different and is valuable in their own way.

 


 

Kaitlyn ReymondKaitlyn Reymond, 3L
Vice President

Favorite Field(s) of Law:
Criminal law.

Role Models:
My grandfather, he taught me that hard work pays off in the end.

Future Goals:
My future goal is to finish law school & pass the CA bar!!

Hobbies:
Traveling, going to concerts, and reading non law related books.

Fun Fact:
I’m a teacher during the day!

Advice for new students:
It’s going to be super difficult at first, but you’ll eventually get use to it ! Everyone struggles, don’t feel alone.

 


 

Atena Javaheri Majd.Atena Javaheri Majd, 3L
Secretary

Favorite Field(s) of Law:
Family law.

Role Models:
My mom and older sister.

Future Goals:
To help people navigate through the legal system. Advocate for families and individuals during difficult life transitions.

Hobbies:
I love staying active and trying new coffee shops and restaurants!

Fun Fact:
I’m fluent in Farsi and love animals!

Advice for new students:
Be kind to yourself, stay disciplined, and trust the process. Focus on consistency rather than perfection, and seek help from deans and your professors!

 


 

Pablo VelasquezPablo Velasquez, 3L
Treasurer

Favorite Field(s) of Law:
Immigration, Constitutional, or Entertainment.

Role Models:
FDR, Bernie Sanders, and Thurgood Marshall.

Future Goals:
To provide legal services for those who are in need. As well to protect the constitutional rights of underrepresented people and to ensure that everyone is treated equally under the eyes of the law.

Hobbies:
I like to watch movies and play pick up basketball almost every Sunday.

Fun Fact:
I have ran five marathons.

Advice for new students:
To remember to make time for yourself, because it’s very easy to become burned out. Even if its like 20 minutes, every second that you take for yourself benefits not only your body but your mental health.

 


 

Jordyn HastyJordyn Hasty, 2L
Marketing Chair

Favorite Field(s) of Law:
I’m interested in personal injury law, products liability law, entertainment law, and appellate law.

Role Models:
I look up to the people in my family a lot, including my parents and my aunts and uncles. When I think about what I want my future to look like, I look at who they are and the lives they’ve led.

Future Goals:
To get my J.D. and then I’m not certain what type of law I want to go into yet, but I think I want to be an appellate lawyer and then maybe become a judge later.

Hobbies:
I love to read, sing, and dance. I will always take any opportunity to go to karaoke or to go line-dancing.

Fun Fact:
While I was in my undergraduate program, I took a lot of jazz dance classes, and before starting law school, I did shows with my local community theater.

Advice for new students:
Keep yourself organized! The work can be a lot, but it can also be really fulfilling as long as you don’t overwhelm yourself by waiting to do everything until the last minute.

To make the most of the opportunities made available to me and help individuals in my community.

Hobbies:
Hiking & Cooking.

Fun Fact:
I can taste the ingredients in a dish with just one bite!

Advice for new students:
Give yourself some grace and remember to rest, you’re doing the best you can and should be proud of yourself for accomplishing a law just by being present in law school!
