Western State College of Law is thrilled to celebrate alumnus William D. Shapiro (Class of 1978 | Hall of Fame) for a banner year of honors: he recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Western San Bernardino County Bar Association and was named to the Daily Journal’s “Top 100 Lawyers in California.” Over 46 years, Bill has built a reputation as one of the state’s premier trial attorneys, securing groundbreaking verdicts, precedent-setting settlements, and policy reforms that have improved government accountability and protected vulnerable communities. Most recently, Bill and his team took on a landmark case involving systemic failures in county child placement. This is an effort that brought justice to those impacted, but also drove meaningful county-wide reforms. Bill’s career is a shining example of the civil justice system’s power to spark change, and we are proud to honor his persistence, tenacity, and unwavering commitment to the law.
