On Thursday, May 22, Western State College of Law hosted a special event to mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter in its history. Titled “Honoring Our Legacy, Building Our Future,” the ceremony celebrated the school’s upcoming move to its new home in Tustin. It signified the formal commencement of renovations at the new facility, marking an important moment of growth for the institution.

Key Speakers: A Vision for the Future

Dean Marisa Cianciarulo welcomed attendees and shared her vision for the future of Western State. She emphasized that the new building symbolizes growth and continued excellence. She described the move as a major step toward enhancing the law school’s educational environment and strengthening its community impact.

Dr. Anthony Lee, President and CEO of Westcliff University, expressed his pride in Western State’s ongoing progress. He underscored the university’s commitment to fostering the law school’s long-term success. Tustin Mayor, Austin Lumbard, welcomed the school to the city and discussed the potential for community collaboration and engagement.

Distinguished alumnus William Shapiro (Class of 1978, Hall of Fame) also addressed attendees. He reflected on Western State’s legacy and expressed excitement about the opportunities that the new facility will offer future students. Other key alumni in attendance were Justice Richard Fields (Class of 1983, Hall of Fame), Judge Craig Arthur (Class of 1988), and Michael Royer (Class of 2016).

Symbolic Moments and Building Tours

After the ceremony, guests donned custom Western State hard hats and took guided tours of the new building. They got a first look at the future campus, which is still under construction. This move represents a transformative moment in Western State’s history, affirming the school’s status as a law school on the rise.

The day concluded with a private alumni dinner hosted by Dean Marisa Cianciarulo and Assistant Dean of Alumni Relations RJ Espinoza, offering a chance to continue conversations in a more personal setting.

Western State’s move to Tustin marks a new chapter for the institution. As the oldest law school in Orange County and one of the most affordable in California, this transition signals the school’s vision and values as it continues to emerge as a leader in legal education.
