Criminal Law Practice Center Overview

The Criminal Law Practice Center (CLPC) expands the teaching of criminal law far beyond the traditional curriculum. Through the CLPC, criminal justice professionals offer students their diverse perspectives. By weaving contemporary societal issues into the curriculum and providing a forum to examine them, the program exposes students to the many facets of the criminal justice system. Courses range from advanced criminal trial practice and criminal evidence to seminars on domestic violence, the death penalty, and criminal justice ethics.

Woman studyinging lawOur faculty are a mix of legal scholars and practitioners who weave "real-world" scenarios into the teaching of law theory. Adjunct faculty include prosecutors and public defenders, judges, and appellate court research attorneys. Their in-depth theoretical knowledge, coupled with practical know-how, add a valuable realistic perspective.

By combining a wide array of doctrinal and skill-based classes with hands-on work experience and exposure to the entire breadth of the criminal justice system, the CLPC hopes to provide the perfect fusion of the practical and the theoretical — the ideal preparation for a career in criminal law.
