Western State University College of Law, the oldest law school in Orange County, California, is pleased to announce that 77% percent of its graduates taking the State Bar of California's Committee of Bar Examiners exam for July 2010 have passed, placing tenth among the twenty California law schools who were ABA-approved in July.

New Report Sheds Light on Secretive Deportation Practices; Reveals Evidence of Systemic Violations of Basic Rights for Immigrants in Deportation Proceedings.

“Deportation Without Due Process,” a groundbreaking report, analyzes thousands of never-before-released government documents revealing evidence of widespread misuse of the “stipulated order of removal” program. The lead author of the report is Western State University College of Law Professor Jennifer Lee Koh, who co-authored with Stanford Law School professor Jayashri Srikantiah and National Immigration Law Center (NILC) attorney Karen Tumlin.

Western State Professors Lori Roberts and Elizabeth Jones will be speaking on September 17, 2011, at the 7th Biennial Central States Legal Writing Conference at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Their presentation, entitled Developing Students Identities as Legal Apprentices, focuses on how law students should begin to think of themselves as practicing attorneys, beginning from their first year of law school. By introducing students to real lawyers and judges, through various interactions both on campus and in the courtroom, students develop a practice-ready approach to law school, and are better equipped to face the challenges of a career in the law.
