Law School Library

The Library at Western State University College of Law is located in a separate building dedicated entirely to library services. Our three-story, 30,000 square foot facility seats over 400, and has wireless Internet connectivity, along with about fifty computers available to our patrons. A spacious computer laboratory/classroom with an overhead projector provides ample space for teaching Lexis, Westlaw, and other online research databases to our students, faculty, and staff.

The Reference Desk is staffed seven days a week for a total of 75 hours by law librarians who possess both a JD and a Master’s degree in Information Science. The primary goal of the Reference Staff is to help WSU students learn to do legal research. We do this through one-on-one assistance at the Reference Desk, via the telephone, and by email. In addition, reference librarians teach in the first year Professional Skills program, as well as courses in Advanced Legal Research, Online Legal Research, and Researching California Law.

Sixteen study rooms are available for WSU students who wish to study in groups. Graduates of WSU who are studying for the bar may reserve these study rooms individually.

The trend in legal publishing is increasing rapidly towards making legal materials available online. As a result, in addition to 200,000 plus print volumes in our collection, we also subscribe to thousands of titles online. All online titles are available on campus and off campus to qualified users through a proxy server.
