Edith R. Warkentine received her A.B. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and her J.D. degree from the University of California, Davis. Following graduation from law shcool, she joined a prominent Los Angeles law firm, which specialized in commercial law and bankruptcy law.  Thereafter, she worked at an Orange County law firm and was in house counsel to two California real estate development companies. She has taught at the UCLA School of Law, the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University) and Whittier Law School. She joined the full-time faculty of Western State University in 1993.  Both her scholarship and her teaching focus on the areas of contract and commercial law. Her interest in teaching contracts transactionally, using contract documents as teaching tools, is derived from her law practice experience and her work as a member of and ultimately Chair of the California State Bar Business Law Section.
