The Moot Court Program at Western State University encourages the development of skills in brief writing and oral advocacy and recognizes those students who excel in developing these skills. - Frank Darras Competition
Beginning this fall semester Western State University will conduct the First Annual Frank Darras Moot Court Competition to be held during the fall semester yearly. The participants in the competition write an appellate brief and deliver oral arguments for presentation before a hypothetical appellate court. - Student Competitions
Students who compete in national moot court competitions are invited to be members of the moot court board. Board members may apply to become Executive Board members through an application and interview process. In conjunction with faculty supervisors, Executive Board members oversee and administer the various components of the moot court program at Western State University. - Selection of the Team
Each summer the Moot Court team will be chosen based on student's performing in their oral advocacy professional skills classes. Each fall semester there will be a write on competition to encourage other students to try out for the team.
