WHAT WE DO FOR YOU

Career Services provides career counseling and assistance at every level, matching our expertise and resources to fit your needs. Examples include one-on-one career counseling, on-campus interviews, networking events, workshops, mock interviews and salary negotiations, the Career Services library, and more.

SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS FROM THE START

Career preparation starts during your first year of law school, well before you receive your degree. To keep you on track, we have developed checklists for each semester that highlight the small steps you can take along the way that will add up to big results by graduation. EVENTS

It’s important to log off your laptop every so often to meet with your fellow students, professors, and successful Western State alumni. Career Services coordinates events throughout the year for students to network, learn lifetime job search skills, and to promote professionalism. Join us for alumni speakers, presentations by experts in various practice areas, field trips to OCBA events, and business etiquette mixers. We can help you schedule an on-campus interview sessions during the Fall or Spring On-campus Interview programs and throughout the academic year. POSTING A JOB

Symplicity is our electronic job board that gives you 24/7 access to post current job opportunities.

Symplicity reaches current students as well as our vast network of experienced alumni.

For your convenience, jobs can be posted on Symplicity three different ways:

  1. Jobs can be posted directly onto Symplicity (our exclusive in-house job board) directly by the employer.
  2. Download the Job Order Form and complete all fields as requested. Scan, e-mail or fax the form back to Career Services for same-day entry (FAX: 714.525.6721, Attn: Pam). E-mail the job description to Pam at pdavidson@wsulaw.edu.
  3. We’ll do it for you! In one phone call, we will quickly and easily take down the information and post your job opening the same day. Please contact Pam at 714.459.1106 or via e-mail at pdavidson@wsulaw.edu.

ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS AND RESUME COLLECTION

To make the most of your time, we are pleased to offer employers the convenience of on-campus interviewing and resume collection. The Career Services Department hosts two interview sessions annually, during the Fall and Spring semesters. To register, please complete the On-Campus Interview Form for Fall 2013 or Spring 2014 and return to Pam Davidson. An On-Campus Registration packet will be mailed to you with confirmation of the selected interview dates and additional information. In order to better accommodate employers, we also offer resume collection and video conferencing. Please contact Pam Davidson at pdavidson@wsulaw.edu with Career Services to coordinate with your IT department to make videoconferencing arrangements.

Western State’s alumni community comprises over 11,000 graduates who have distinguished themselves in every field of endeavor throughout the country. The Office of Alumni Relations provides resources, programs and events to support the academic and professional needs of the members of the Western State community, and serves as a conduit for donor support, volunteerism and stewardship that are critical to the vibrancy and continued growth of the College of Law. Programs include continuing legal education courses, a mentorship program, seminars, and networking events throughout the year. Alumni also receive career related assistance and access to Symplicity, the school’s employment databse.
