Nondiscrimination Policy
Western State is committed to policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment. Those policies extend to all activities conducted and sponsored by the College of Law, including employment and career services programming. Employers and other organizations participating in Career Services programs agree to honor those policies.
ABA Standard 509(d) Employment Outcomes
At its meeting on August 6, 2012, the ABA House of Delegates concurred in the new Standard 509 and Interpretations 509-1 to 509-4 and the revisions to Rule 16 of the Standards and Rules of Procedure for Approval of Law Schools that were adopted by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar in June.
New Standard 509 requires disclosure of employment outcomes data, pursuant to Standard 509(d); under new Standard 509(d), schools must post their employment outcomes in the form approved by the Council. At this time, schools are required to post their class of 2011 and 2012 graduates’ employment outcomes on the school’s website.

Adherence to NALP Guidelines
First year students are encouraged to seek Career Service counseling after November 1st for Fall admitted students. Per the National Association of Law Placement (NALP) guidelines, first year students may not interact with Career Services counselors until November 1st, or contact employers until after December 1st. Students may contact Career Services and schedule their individual counseling appointment anytime from November 1st to January 30th. Resume and interview workshops are held during the month of November to prepare students for their summer job search. Career Services is available to meet with students during Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer.
