Career Services Office

Western State University’s Office of Career Services assists students to secure law-related employment during and after law school. Career Services’ mission is to assist students in further developing the skills they have acquired in the classroom through employment opportunities.

Career Services provides educational programming relating to career development, networking, and programs that introduce students to the widely known and diverse areas of legal practice. Resume workshops are conducted throughout the year to prepare students for their job search. These educational programs lay the foundation for a student’s legal career during law school and beyond law school.

Career Services also offers individual counseling, job search assistance, as well as cover letter and resume review. The office also provides students job interviewing assessments through mock interview programs.

Western State complies with the National Association of Law Placement (NALP) guidelines, which state that first year students may not interact with the Career Development Office on career counseling until after November 1st, or contact employers until after December 1st. Employers are aware of these dates and do not recruit first year students or accept applications from them prior to December 1st.

Second year and third year students are encouraged to visit Career Services during the summer months to update their resumes and cover letters, and begin planning for upcoming summer and post bar employment.
